Henderson KJ Streamline Featured Bike Review
The Model KJ Streamline was designed by chief engineer Arthur Constantine, who had been hired by Schwinn away from Harley-Davidson in 1928. When it was released, it boasted of 57 new features added, although the basic engine design was still the proven inline four-cylinder that the Henderson Company had been using on its previous models since 1912.

The Henderson Model K series was launched in 1920 featuring electric lighting and a fully-enclosed chain. Released in 1929, the KJ model acquired the 'Streamline' name because of the graceful lines of the fuel tank and mudguards. It featured a double-downtube cradle frame with leading-link front forks and had an illuminated speedometer set into the fuel tank. The KJ was produced from 1929.

When Henderson was shut down, the Streamline (also known as the KJ) was their base model. The KJ was the brainchild of Arthur Constantine, a Chief Engineer who had been stolen away from H-D in 1928. The 1930 Henderson KJ Streamline had the enviable ability to not only reach a top speed of 161kph (100mph) - it was also so flexible, and so smooth, that it could accelerate from 16kph (10mph) in top gear using its three-speed gearbox.

Henderson was a manufacturer of 4-cylinder motorcycles from 1912 until 1931. They were the largest and fastest motorcycles of their time, [citation needed] and appealed to both sport riders and police departments. Police favored them for traffic patrol because they were faster than anything else on the roads.
